horticultural maintenance crew leader

Horticulture Maintenance Crew Leaders will lead crews of team members and oversee assigned maintenance clients ensuring that all work performed is done to the highest standard, on time, and to budget. Job duties for our maintenance positions will focus on garden clean ups, weeding, deadheading, light pruning, watering, and seasonal annual planting, but will also include garden reworking and new installations. Qualified applicants will have a desire to create inspired outdoor living spaces for our clients, will value teamwork, and will have a positive and upbeat attitude.

specific responsibilities include:

  • Direct and work with crew members to complete residential and commercial maintenance to the highest standards for our clients.

  • Ensure that team has necessary tools and materials to accomplish jobs.

  • Manage time, productivity, and material record keeping.

  • Provide consistent and timely communication with customers, team members and managers.

  • Ensure adherence to plans and quality of work.

  • Recommend modifications based on field conditions, client requests, and/or supply issues.

  • Utilize hands-on training philosophies and demonstrate a strong work ethic through your example.

  • Promote safety, performance, and well-being of all crews.

  • Perform general landscape maintenance including planting and transplanting.

necessary skills + qualifications:

  • Must possess strong leadership skills with crew and ability to communicate effectively with management and clients to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to endure repetitive bending and twisting motions.

  • Must be able to lift more than 80 pounds.

  • Must be able to properly and efficiently complete necessary job site and company paperwork.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers.

  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and good driving record.

desired skills + qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ experience managing crew members on landscape maintenance.

  • Plant identification and care knowledge.

  • Operate skid steers, compact excavators, chainsaws, power tools, and other specialized equipment.

wage range: $19-$21/hour
